Our Story
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
Our roots run deep here at 1163 N Highway 7 in Sparkman, Arkansas — once known as Route 1, Box 280 in Manning. Our family has lived and worked this land since the 1790s, starting with my great-great-grandfather, Daniel Hunter. His son, William Jefferson Hunter, built a thriving farm operation, owning thousands of acres and providing jobs for many. My grandfather Floyd lived here until he passed in 1960, and my father Bert stayed on the land until his passing in 2016.
Over time, what was once thousands of acres has been reduced to the 26 acres we still proudly hold in the family. Today, my sisters Carolyn and Gwen, my brother-in-law Tank, and sister-in-law Cathy still live on the land. The family home sits quiet, but not forgotten.
I left in 1980, but I made a promise to my parents that I’d come back one day to care for the land and carry on our legacy. Now, at 60 years old, I’m keeping that promise. I recently left my job, and made the decision to return home and get to work.
This is more than just a homecoming — it’s the beginning of something new. We’re launching BMH Farms Inc., a two-part plan to restore the land and build a sustainable, income-generating farm business that will serve generations to come.
We’re not just preserving the past. We’re planting a future.
